KUALA LUMPUR: On most occasions, die-hard sports supporters from Malaysia and Indonesia are at odds with each other over football and other sports on social media.
However, two athletes from their respective countries have come together in the name of love.
Flying thousands of kilometres to Malaysia proved worthwhile when Indonesian boxer Jaden Bahtera sought the hand of national martial arts athlete Puteri Rania Mahmoud and was warmly received by her family.
A short clip shared by Rania on her TikTok shows Jaden visibly nervous while waiting for the ceremony to begin.
His nervous anticipation was met with a warm welcome from Rania's family, turning what could have been a tense moment into one of joy and celebration.
The video has since garnered 12.9 million views, with fans expressing delight at the news and sending their best wishes to the couple.
Rania's brother, Mohammed Mahmoud, also known as Jordan Boy, prayed that the next stage of their journey would go smoothly.
"Congratulations, little sister. God willing, the next step is the engagement ❤️," he wrote in the comments.
