PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Communications has denied the cancellation of the "(G)I-DLE & Bambam Live in Malaysia" concert which will take place on June 14.
The ministry, in its statement, said that the claim that the cancellation was due to not receiving approval from the Foreign Filming and Foreign Artist Performance Application Committee (JK-PUSPAL) was completely untrue.
"According to records, pre-application approval for the organization of the "(G)I-DLE & Bambam Live in Malaysia" concert was obtained on 28 April 2025."
"The decision to cancel this concert is based on a request from the organisers after taking into account the justification and interests of all parties."
"In this case, the organisers need to make thorough preparations including obtaining prior approval from various stakeholders involved before organising a concert involving such renowned international artists," the statement said today.
Previously, the organiser, Live Universe Entertainment, said in a statement that the cancellation was made after taking into account aspects of compliance with local laws and cultural guidelines.
The organisers will simultaneously refund ticket payments in full via the Ticket2U platform.
The decision has drawn various reactions of disappointment on social media, especially from K-Pop fans.
This includes the preparations of some fans who are willing to fly from far away to come to Kuala Lumpur to watch the concert.
