PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians in Iran are expected to be evacuated on Friday, June 20, following recent acts of aggression by the Israeli regime against the country.
Unity government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said necessary arrangements were being made amid heightened tensions in the region.
He said that visa preparations for all affected Malaysians had been finalised.
"The Foreign Minister (Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan) briefed the cabinet today on the situation and informed us that the number of Malaysians in Iran — whether working, studying or visiting — is relatively small, based on official registrations.
"Nevertheless, arrangements have been made to facilitate their evacuation.
"God willing, they are expected to depart within the next day or two, most likely on June 20," he told a press conference today.
