KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian satay has once again captured international attention, attracting long queues at a popular festival in Nanjing, China.
Served with the traditional accompaniments of nasi himpit and cucumber, three sticks of the skewered delicacy were priced at 10 Chinese yuan (about RM5.90).
The stall, run by Malaysian TikTok user @sinwantz_, went viral after videos of the event garnered more than 272,000 views.
Dressed in a baju Melayu, he said the satay craze often led to the stall selling out within just two hours.
The overwhelming response echoed similar scenes at the 2025 Osaka Expo, where Malaysian roti canai quickly sold out, sparking pride among Malaysians online.
"There's a long queue in Japan, there's a long queue in China β Malaysian food is truly great," commented user @4everpotat0.
Another netizen, @nouranor246, suggested the seller expand operations by purchasing additional grills or opening another stall to meet the growing demand.
