Melaka Islamic Religious Council channels RM3.15 million in early schooling aid to 9,000 asnaf and poor students for the 2026 session
MELAKA: The Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM) is channelling RM3.15 million in early schooling aid to 9,000 students from asnaf, hardcore poor and poor families in the state for the 2026 session.
State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Exco Datuk Rahmad Mariman said each student received RM350 in vouchers. These can be redeemed at designated shops within a week to purchase school uniforms and other supplies.
βThe early schooling aid has been distributed to the needy, with Hang Tuah Jaya being the last parliamentary constituency to receive the assistance,β he said. The aid benefits 9,000 primary and secondary school students.
Rahmad explained the aid is part of MAIMβs annual initiatives aimed at easing the financial burden of asnaf, hardcore poor and poor families. It helps them purchase their childrenβs school supplies and ensures a smooth start to the school session.
He spoke after the Melaka Berselawat programme held in conjunction with the 2026 New Year celebration. The event was attended by the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, as well as 5,000 spectators.
In another development, Rahmad said about 3,000 religious programmes at various levels were implemented in Melaka this year. These programmes aim to strengthen Islamic development in the state.
