A Malaysian mother to an autistic child has taken to social media to express gratitude to the Malaysian government for including frozen food under the MySARA assistance programme.
βAs a mother to an autistic child, I would like to thank the Malaysian government for allowing frozen food under MySARA,β she wrote.
In her post, she attached a picture of the frozen food which included chicken popcorn, minced beef, chicken sausages and fried chicken.
She went on to address critics who questioned why recipients would use the aid to purchase frozen items instead of basic staples like rice.
βPlease donβt tell us to just feed them rice. Even if we twist ourselves upside down and turn the house inside out, they still refuse to open their mouths,β she shared candidly.
βAutism mums will definitely understand our situation. Once the child wants to eat something, thatβs it.β
Her comment resonated deeply with other mothers facing similar challenges.
One parent shared that her child, who has speech delay, refuses to eat rice altogether.
βMy child doesnβt want rice. He wants bihun soup β any kind of soup heβll eat. Bread, biscuits, fast food nuggets. Our struggle β only we know. Donβt bother about what people say, they only know how to talk. Weβre the ones doing the hard work as mothers,β she wrote.
Another mother chimed in with humour and understanding.
βMy child wants ayam gunting. No matter how we go around it, it has to be ayam gunting. So mommy, just enjoy it. Whatever they like, we follow. Our βanak syurgaβ. Mommy stay strong,β she commented.
Until 31 Dec 2026, all 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above will receive RM100 credited to their MyKad accounts.
