Muslims nationwide mark Aidiladha with prayers, royal attendance across states

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 β€” Muslims across the country today celebrated Aidiladha with gratitude and devotion, as thousands of worshippers, including national leaders, filled mosques nationwide to recite the takbir and perform the Aidiladha prayers together.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail joined more than 10,000 congregants in performing the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Putra in PUTRAJAYA, where they also listened to a sermon titled β€˜Pengorbanan Menuntut Keikhlasan’ delivered by the Grand Imam Dr Muhammad Zakuwa Rodzali.

In Selangor, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, joined more than 15,000 worshippers in performing the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah in Shah Alam.

Also present were the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and state secretary Datuk Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, 28 cattle, including one contributed by the Sultan of Selangor, were sacrificed during β€˜ibadah korban’ (animal sacrificial rites) held at the mosque compound.

In Kelantan, Crown Prince Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra joined thousands of worshippers in performing the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Jamek Al-Ismaili in Bandar Baru Pasir Pekan, Tumpat, alongside Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud and the state leadership.

In Kedah, the Sultan of Kedah Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah performed the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar together with more than 2,000 congregants, including Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and state secretary Datuk Seri Norizan Khazali.

Meanwhile, in Perlis, the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, joined more than 1,200 congregants in performing the Aidiladha prayers at the Dataran Istiadat Istana Arau, in Arau, led by state Grand Imam Amnan Muthqa Azanol.

The Aidiladha sermon titled β€˜Pengorbanan Memajukan Umat Islam’ was delivered by the chief executive officer of the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor.

Also in attendance were the Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and their daughters Hajah Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah Jamalullail and Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail.

In Negeri Sembilan , the Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir and Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud arrived at the Dewan Awam Tuanku Najihah in Kuala Pilah at 8.30 am, accompanied by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, to perform the Aidiladha prayers with about 1,500 congregants.

In Pahang, the Sultan Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. joined more than 1,000 worshippers in performing the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Tengku Ampuan Afzan in Indera Mahkota.

The royal couple were accompanied by their children, including the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.

In Perak, the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah performed the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II in Ipoh this morning together with more than 1,000 congregants.

Also in attendance were the Raja Muda of Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and Raja Di-Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad was also present.

In Johor, the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, attended the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Negeri Sultan Abu Bakar in Johor Bahru alongside more than 1,000 congregants.

His two sons, the Raja Muda of Johor Tunku Iskandar Tunku Ismail and Tunku Abu Bakar Ibrahim Tunku Ismail as well as the Tunku Panglima of Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim and the Tunku Putera of Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim were also in attendance. Also present was Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

In Terengganu, the Regent of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, performed Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Al-Muktafi Billah Shah in Kuala Terengganu. He was accompanied by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and several other state leaders.

In Penang, Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib and his wife Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah performed the Aidiladha prayer with more than 5,000 Muslims at Masjid Abdullah Fahim in Bertam, Kepala Batas.

In Melaka, state senior executive councillor for Housing, Local Government, Climate Change and Disaster Management Datuk Rais Yasin and 3rd Division commander Major General Sani S Omar joined more than 2,000 congregants comprising military personnel and civilians in performing the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid As-Syuhada Kem Terendak in Sungai Udang.

Meanwhile, in Sarawak, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, together with Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and State Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, joined more than 5,000 worshippers in performing the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak in Petra Jaya.

In Sabah, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor performed the Aidiladha prayers with more than 1,000 congregants at Masjid Haji Noor in Kampung Serusup, Tuaran, before carrying out the β€˜ibadah korban’, with the meat distributed to personnel of the Tuaran district police headquarters and asnaf groups in the district. β€” Bernama
