Measures to strengthen health insurance regulations, EPF retirement savings and volleyball talent programmes are among the key issues in today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting
KUALA LUMPUR: Measures to strengthen health insurance regulations, the retirement savings of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors and talent identification programmes for volleyball are among the key issues to be raised during today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
According to the Order Paper on the Parliament portal, during Question Time, Tan Kok Wai (PH-Cheras) will ask the Finance Minister about the government’s measures to strengthen insurance regulations to protect policyholders, particularly critical illness and cancer patients, from policy cancellations and unfair claim rejections, while enhancing transparency and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (PH-Port Dickson) will also ask the Finance Minister to explain the government’s strategy to ensure Malaysians have adequate retirement savings, particularly among EPF contributors, in view of the rising cost of living and the country’s ageing population by 2030.
During the same session, Zakri Hassan (PN-Kangar) will ask the Youth and Sports Minister about the ministry’s efforts to identify and develop talent, particularly for indoor volleyball and beach volleyball.
Hassan Saad (PN-Baling) will seek an explanation from the Communications Minister on the effectiveness of the National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) in improving the socio-economic status of rural communities, given the persistent gaps in internet access, digital skills and marketing capabilities among small entrepreneurs.
Also expected to draw attention are questions on the effectiveness of the Mobile eCOSS application, introduced in May 2025, in curbing leakages involving subsidised packet cooking oil, as well as the effectiveness of financing schemes in assisting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to be answered by the respective ministers.
The sitting will then proceed with a briefing by the chairman of the Health Select Committee on the committee’s report on the Reform of the National Organ Donation and Transplant System.
The Dewan Rakyat is also scheduled to continue the committee-stage debate and winding-up on the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2026, as well as the second reading of the Competition Commission (Amendment) Bill 2026.
The Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to sit for 16 days and conclude on July 16.
