KUALA TERENGGANU, July 25 — A seven-year-old autistic girl died after falling from the 13th floor of the Ladang Tok Pelam Apartments while staying at a homestay with her family.
Kuala Terengganu police said they received a report at about 7.50am after the child was found in the sixth-floor parking area. Medical personnel from Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ) confirmed she had died at the scene.
Police investigations and a post-mortem found no signs of foul play, with the cause of death determined to be severe blunt force injuries sustained in the fall.
The family had rented the apartment while attending an entrepreneurship seminar in Kuala Terengganu. According to police, the victim's mother woke at around 6am and believed her daughter was still asleep before leaving the bedroom to prepare for the day. She only realised the child was missing after another resident informed her that a young girl had fallen from the building.
The victim's mother said the child had attempted to open the apartment window the previous night, prompting her to take precautions before the family went to sleep. Despite those efforts, the incident occurred early the next morning.
Police have urged the public to refrain from spreading speculation or sharing photographs of the victim out of respect for the grieving family. — Bernama
