KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — Four victims who lost their lives in the fatal road accident on Jalan Karak Lama, Bentong, have been confirmed eligible to receive benefits under the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) Lindung 24 Jam scheme.
Perkeso said the four victims, aged between 16 and 25, were active contributors under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969, making their families eligible for financial assistance, including the Funeral Management Benefit of RM3,000 for each victim.
The dependants of two victims will receive Invalidity Pension benefits, while the families of the other two are entitled to monthly Dependants’ Benefits under the Lindung 24 Jam scheme. Perkeso said these payments will help ease the financial burden on the affected families over the long term.
According to the organisation, the total value of the benefits to be paid to the eligible families over the next three decades is expected to exceed RM900,000.
However, Perkeso also confirmed that three other victims did not have active contribution records, while another had no contribution history, making them ineligible for benefits under the current provisions.
The organisation stressed the importance of maintaining active social security contributions, noting that the Lindung 24 Jam scheme is designed to provide financial protection for workers and their families in the event of accidents occurring outside working hours.
Perkeso also reminded employers and employees to ensure contributions remain up to date and urged all road users to prioritise safety at all times.
