CYBERJAYA, July 28 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a new initiative that will provide 100,000 Malaysians aged between 18 and 30 with a free three-month subscription to selected artificial intelligence (AI) software as part of the government's AI Malaysia programme.
The initiative, which begins on Aug 31, requires participants to complete a series of AI learning modules through the Rakyat Digital platform before receiving access to the software.
The online modules cover topics including AI Security, Cyber SAFE, Agentic AI, Generative AI and Cloud Untuk Rakyat, aiming to equip young Malaysians with practical AI knowledge and digital skills.
Speaking at the launch of AI Malaysia in Cyberjaya, Anwar said the programme is part of the government's vision to build an AI Nation while ensuring access to AI technology is available to all segments of society.
He stressed that AI adoption should help reduce, rather than widen, the digital gap between urban and rural communities and between different income groups.
Anwar also highlighted the importance of balancing technological advancement with ethical values, saying Malaysia must embrace AI without compromising its culture, religion and moral principles.
The AI Malaysia initiative is backed by the government to accelerate AI adoption, align national policies and support the country's AI Nation 2030 agenda.
