By Paya Linda Yahya

GUA MUSANG: Firefighters captured a nearly 100kg python believed to have been attempting to prey on a goat at the Limau Kasturi Land Rehabilitation Scheme here late yesterday.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli said the department received a distress call at 11.40pm after the reptile was spotted.

He said four firemen from the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station successfully captured the five-metre-long python.

"We believe the nearly 100kg python was attempting to devour a goat.

"The snake has been taken to the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station and will be handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) today," he said when contacted.

Azrul also advised residents, especially those living near orchards, plantations and villages, to remain vigilant for the presence of wild animals.
