SHAH ALAM: A 15-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a lake in Bandar Botanik, Klang yesterday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 6.21 pm.

He said the search operation involved seven personnel from the Andalas station, assisted by the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) from the Shah Alam station.

“The victim is believed to have been swimming alone in the man-made lake, and his friends attempted to rescue him.

“The boy’s body was found by the team at a depth of one metre at 8.21 pm,” he said in a statement last night.
