Switching from an Android handset to an iPhone has never been easier

Apple has announced a major update to its Move to iOS mobile application which, as the name suggests, lets you transfer your personal data from an old Android smartphone to a new iPhone. The manufacturer now promises a faster, more comprehensive switchover.
Available free of charge, the application makes it easy to transfer data securely from an Android smartphone to an iPhone. This includes contacts, message history, photos and videos, web bookmarks, email accounts, calendars, compatible apps and even WhatsApp content.
Move to iOS now also supports call history and audio recordings (to the Voice Memos app or Files app). But that's not all, as the app also lets you transfer Dual SIM labels. These are the personalized names assigned to each SIM card in a handset that can support two of them.
Last but not least, the app's latest update promises faster data migration using a wired connection (USB-C for newer iPhones, or USB-C to Lightning for older ones).
In the other direction, you can also easily migrate from an iPhone to an Android smartphone without losing your most precious data. To do this, you need to use the Switch to Android application, this time offered by Google.
When installed on the iPhone, it lets you manage the step-by-step transfer of your contacts, calendar, photos and videos, thanks to a simple QR Code that you scan with your new smartphone.
However, most applications will have to be reinstalled, one by one. You'll also need to deactivate iMessage and FaceTime on your old iPhone. Data stored in iCloud will also have to be recovered manually. – AFP Relaxnews
