Form Five student injured in fall while being chased by stray dogs

SEREMBAN: A Form Five student sustained injuries across almost his entire body when he fell on the road while being chased by three stray dogs in Rasah Jaya on Saturday.
The teen was waiting for an e-hailing vehicle to pick him up about noon when he was attacked.
After he fell, one of the dogs tried to pounce on him, but a passer-by intervened.
Darius Hazreeq Mohd Nor Azlan, 17, said he suffered wounds to his legs, hands, and back as a result of the incident and is now traumatised.
The student said at the time, he had just finished attending a tuition class at a shoplot in Rasah Jaya.
"I was (waiting for the e-hailing ride to) head to school for sports practice. I was standing at the side of the shoplot where the tuition centre is located, checking my phone to track the driver.
"Suddenly, I saw a dog running towards me from a distance. At first, I managed to stay calm, but then two more dogs joined in," he said when contacted.
Darius added that, in a panic, he began to run, but the three dogs chased after him, causing him to fall in the middle of the road.
"One of the dogs managed to bite my slipper, but it was chased away by someone who happened to be passing by. Another person helped carry me to the roadside before my mother arrived at the scene.
"I sustained wounds to my legs, both knees, hands, and back due to the fall and was taken to hospital for emergency treatment," he said.
Darius was discharged today as he still needs to attend school, though the doctor has granted him three weeks of medical leave.
"This incident has left me traumatised. I've never been chased or bitten by a dog before, and I'm not sure whether there are usually a lot of stray dogs around that tuition centre.
"I advise everyone to always be aware of their surroundings and to stay in areas where there are more people, as it's safer and reduces the risk of being harassed by stray dogs," he added.
