KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) to strengthen their long-standing collaboration and accelerate the development of clean energy solutions.
In a statement, Petronas said the MoU reaffirms its commitment as a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplier to KOGAS, while expanding cooperation into areas such as carbon capture and storage (CCS), renewable energy and hydrogen development.
Petronas vice president of LNG marketing and trading Shamsairi Mohd Ibrahim said the enhanced partnership with KOGAS marks a significant milestone in their relationship, which began in 1991.
"This MoU reaffirms our shared commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable energy solutions," he said.
KOGAS senior vice president of hydrogen and new business unit Oh Kwon Taek said the agreement would allow both companies to leverage their complementary strengths.
"As we move forward together, we are confident this partnership will not only support the growth of both organisations but also contribute to the global transition towards cleaner energy," he said.
Petronas said the partnership underscores both companies' ambitions to deliver lower-carbon, reliable energy to global markets and address pressing climate challenges.
