PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry has identified a candidate to head the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency, which has been without a director-general for four months.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said "yes", when asked if there already a candidate for the post.
"It's in process (of appointment), and we will make an announcement soon," he added.
One key function of the border control agency is to monitor and enforce security at entry points to prevent illegal activities and protect national sovereignty.
In March, Saifuddin said the ministry was in the process of identifying a candidate to fill the post, which became vacant following Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali's retirement on Feb 9.
At the ministry's monthly assembly today, he said the selection process was being carried out diligently.
