Man arrested within 24 hours over snatch theft at Kota Baru car park

KOTA BARU: Police arrested a man within 24 hours after a snatch theft incident at a shopping complex car park here on Sunday.
Kota Baru police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said the suspect was detained about 9am yesterday following a report lodged by the victim, a woman.
"According to the victim, she was walking through the car park at 7.25pm when she was approached by a man on a red motorcycle.
"The motorcyclist then snatched her handbag and escaped," he said.
He added that the victim estimated a loss of about RM220.
He said police also seized several items related to the case, including the motorcycle, a t-shirt, and a pair of black trousers.
"Further investigations revealed the suspect is also linked to five other snatch theft reports in Kota Baru.
"A urine test conducted on the suspect returned negative for drugs," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.
Rosdi said the suspect would be remanded soon.
