TOKYO: Japan will continue to push the US to implement an agreed-upon cut to automobile and auto parts tariffs to 15 per cent from 25 per cent, its top trade negotiator Ryosei Akazawa said on Friday.
US tariffs will weigh on Japan's economy through reduced exports and slowing global growth, Akazawa told a press conference.
But Japan may also gain a competitive advantage if US tariffs imposed on its goods are lower than those Washington puts on other countries, he said.
