OG and SRG end partnership ahead of M7 World Championship

By Joey Morris || Esports Insider

OG Esports has announced that it is concluding its partnership with the Selangor Football Club’s esports division, Selangor Red Giants (SRG).

The announcement comes during the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M7 World Championship, where SRG is set to compete in the Swiss Stage.

In a post online, OG Esports wrote: “It was a wonderful year full of triumphs, including a historic four-peat, but all good things must come to an end, as our partnership with SRG concludes.”

The esports organisations first announced the partnership back in March 2025, competing as Selangor Red Giants OG Esports during the 2025 MLBB season.

Throughout the year, the team placed first in MPL Malaysia Season 15 and 16, and finished runner-up in the MLBB Mid-Season Cup 2025. Its first-place win in Season 16 secured the roster direct qualification to the M7 World Championship, the culminating event of the 2025 season.

In a statement online, SRG added: “Together, we conquered Malaysia with a historic four-peat, stood tall on the global stage in Riyadh, and redefined what a partnership could achieve. As our paths diverge, we carry the OG DNA forward.”

As of writing, SRG has yet to play its first game in the M7 World Championship. The team will begin its run in the Swiss Stage, which starts on January 10th, 2026.

The conclusion of the SRG partnership is the latest of many significant changes for OG, which also announced its rebranding for 2026. Notably, its new logo is without its long-time commercial partner, Red Bull.

SRG in the MLBB Scene

Despite its split from OG, SRG is still one of the most recognised teams in the MLBB esports scene, boasting an accomplished track record over the last few seasons

2024 was a highlight year for the organisation, winning several tier-one events such as MPL Malaysia Season 13 and 14. Furthermore, it also claimed victory at the MLBB Mid-Season Cup, which earned the organisation $1m (~£737,000) in prize pool funds after defeating Falcons AP.Bren 4-3 in the Grand Finals.

The team also placed third in the M6 World Championship, losing 0-3 to Team Liquid but scoring $90,000 (~£66,870) in prize money.

SRG is considered a top contender amongst the 22 teams competing in M7, though only time will tell if the squad can one-up its M6 performance and go all the way to be crowned the new champion.
